Top questions regarding chiropractic care
Chiropractic care is generally considered safe and effective for treating back pain, neck pain, and headaches without medication or surgery. While risks are low, some patients may experience mild, temporary soreness after adjustments.
Chiropractors undergo extensive training before treating patients for spine-related ailments. On average, chiropractors spend at least four years working on their Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). They cannot pursue this degree until they attend at least three years of undergraduate courses.
Dr. Alae also pursued additional specific training in prenatal care and the Webster Techique.
A chiropractic adjustment is a precise, manual, or instrument-assisted force applied to a joint that is "locked up" or not moving properly to improve function.
The initial visit typically involves a consultation, history, and examination to determine a treatment plan, which may last 45-60 minutes.
No! We have safely adjusted people of all ages from newborn babies, to small children, to pregnant women, up to seniors 95 years or older with our gentle and more physical adjusting techniques. Some patients might experience minor discomfort or soreness for 24-48 hours after their first session
The style of each adjustment is tailored to each person- their medical history and their preferences. Some clients prefer not to be “cracked” (we don’t use that term as chiropractors- but we know people mean “manually adjusted”), so we do light touches and use the activator “clicker tool”- while still achieving the same great results as the techniques with more physicality involved.
During a spinal adjustment, many patients notice a popping or cracking sound. This is completely normal, safe, and typically not painful. The sound is simply caused by the release of gas and movement of fluids within the joints.
Your spine relies on these fluids to lubricate and support proper joint movement, so their presence is a natural and healthy part of your skeletal system. The sound itself is not an indication of bones rubbing together or damage — it’s just a normal response as the joint restores proper motion.
Chiropractors treat a wide range of symptoms that affect both physical and emotional well-being. We help patients manage issues such as pain, cramping, tingling, dizziness, nausea, headaches, shortness of breath, inflammation, limited range of motion, and exhaustion.
Many patients also notice improvements in their mental health following chiropractic care. Living with chronic discomfort can contribute to stress, anxiety, and feelings of hopelessness, but by reducing pain and restoring proper function, chiropractic care helps patients feel more optimistic, energized, and in control—so they can get back to living life on their own terms.
Every patient is different and therefore we will create you an individualized treatment plan based on your specific needs. Some patients may require intensive treatment with several appointments each week for a number of weeks before dropping down to maintenance visits. Others may only need a short course of adjustments to resolve their issues.
We will be able to advise you how long your treatment plan is likely to be during your initial consultation. Bear in mind though that this can change depending on how well your body responds to treatment.
That depends on how you define “expensive”. You are always in control of your finances.
Is it going to require more of your money than an over-the-counter or prescription drug? Probably so. Is it as expensive as surgery or a life surrendered to drugs and their side effects? No.

The short answer is yes—chiropractic adjustments are generally considered safe for children when performed by a qualified and experienced pediatric chiropractor.
Pediatric chiropractic care uses gentle, precise pressure to restore proper alignment and function to the spine and joints, with techniques specifically adapted to a child’s size, age, and unique needs. These adjustments are far less forceful than those used for adults and are designed with safety and comfort in mind.
There is no evidence to suggest that appropriately delivered pediatric chiropractic care is harmful to children. In fact, research shows it can offer many benefits, including supporting healthy brain and nervous system development, promoting proper spinal growth and alignment, easing digestive issues such as colic, reflux, and constipation, boosting immune function, improving sleep quality, encouraging optimal motor skill development, reducing the frequency of ear infections, and enhancing overall well-being and quality of life.
By addressing spinal misalignments and optimizing nervous system function, chiropractic care helps children’s bodies function at their best—laying the foundation for lifelong health. Learn more.
